Holy Week and Pascha 2013: St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church Ft. Lauderdale, FL

Celebrating Holy Week and Pascha in the parish of St. Demetrios in Fort Lauderdale, would not be the same if it were not for those who offered their time and talents to offer the services to the faithful. Those who chant and those who read, those who keep steadfast their faith and strength throughout the week awaiting for the service to begin to hear the words of Christ as he travels the road to His Crucifixion and his ultimate Resurrection. We begin with Saturday of Lazarus with a retreat that brings all together to learn about the faith along with the folding of the palms. All are invited to serve in the altar through the week as well as chant with our chanters, without whom services would not be as they should. The children line up on Holy Friday awaiting the time of which they can enter the tomb of Christ as the Myrrhbering women when they discovered it empty. Saturday after we proclaim that Christ is Risen, we gather into our homes and break bread with our community.
