
Fr. Peter Metallinos, retired pastor of the St. Demetrios Church in Rocky River, Ohio, and priest of the greater Cleveland Greek Orthodox Community since 1961, also minsters to Sts. Constantine & Helen. Fr. Peter was born in Tinos, Greece and came to the United States at the age of 19. He attended the University of California Berkeley before serving as an MP (military policeman) for the United States Army in Germany.
Upon being discharged, he went to the Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, from which he graduated. He and his wife Emilia (Sofronas) were married on Dec 30, 1961.
Fr. Peter served first the American-Hellenic community of Cleveland and later the the community of St. Demetrios until his retirement in 1997. During his tenure at St. Demetrios the church building, school and community center were built.
He was the Orthodox Chaplain of the Cleveland Patrolman's Association for 22 years. He served the Greek Orthodox Diocese of Pittsburgh in a variety of capacities, including Diocesan Youth Commission, Diocesan Council, the Board of Directors of St. Gregory Palamas Monastery, the Ecclesiastical Court and Diocesan Vicar. He represented the Diocese of Pittsburgh on the Archdiocesan Benefits Committee. He had his own religious radio program on WZAK radio.
Fr. Peter and Presvytera Emilia enjoy travelling and the company of their son Jack, his wife, Megan, their daughter Elizabeth, and their grandchildren Emelia and Claire.
