fr-stephenFr. Stephen Callos has served Sts. Constantine & Helen since 1982. He was born in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, and raised in Youngstown, Ohio. He has a Doctor of Ministry degree from McCormick Theological Seminary, a Master of Divinity degree from Holy Cross School of Theology, and a Bachelor of Arts from Hellenic College. Prior to his arrival in Cleveland, he was the pastor of All Saints Church in Weirton, West Virginia, from 1979 to 1982 and the assistant pastor of Sts. Constantine & Helen Cathedral in Merrillville, Indiana in 1978-1979.

Fr. Stephen is currently involved with and the past-President of the Greater Cleveland Council of Orthodox Clergy, the past Chair of the Board of Trustees and current advisory board member for St. Herman’s Orthodox House of Hospitality, and the regional Vicar of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Pittsburgh.

Fr. Stephen has visited India in the years 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2010 as a participant in short-term mission programs sponsored by the Orthodox Christian Mission Center to the Orthodox community of West Bengal. The church there is young in age, about 30 years old; it performs a dynamic philanthropic ministry to the poor and provides an Orthodox Christian witness in the city of Kolkata (Calcutta) and the surrounding areas.

Fr Stephen married Christina Tomaras in 1977; they have raised their three natural children – Fr. George, Priscilla and Yiannis as well as their nephew John and their niece Jennifer. Christina, who was born in Kalamata, Greece, holds a bachelor’s degree from Hellenic College, a master’s degree in psychology from Cleveland State University, where she is adjunct faculty, and a PhD degree from the Fielding Graduate University in human and organizational development. She heads the Callos Consulting Group.

Fr. Peter Metallinos, retired pastor of the St. Demetrios Church in Rocky River, Ohio, and priest of the greater Cleveland Greek Orthodox Community since 1961, also minsters to Sts. Constantine & Helen as our assistant priest each Sunday. Fr. Peter was born in Tinos, Greece and came to the United States at the age of 19. He attended the University of California Berkeley before serving as an MP (military policeman) for the United States Army in Germany.

Upon being discharged, he went to the Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, from which he graduated. He and his wife Emilia (Sofronas) were married on Dec 30, 1961.

Fr. Peter served first the American-Hellenic community of Cleveland and later the community of St. Demetrios until his retirement in 1997. During his tenure at St. Demetrios the church building, school and community center were built.

He was the Orthodox Chaplain of the Cleveland Patrolman’s Association for 22 years. He served the Greek Orthodox Diocese of Pittsburgh in a variety of capacities, including Diocesan Youth Commission, Diocesan Council, the Board of Directors of St. Gregory Palamas Monastery, the Ecclesiastical Court and Diocesan Vicar. He represented the Diocese of Pittsburgh on the Archdiocesan Benefits Committee. He had his own religious radio program on WZAK radio.

Fr. Peter and Presvytera Emilia enjoy travelling and the company of their son Jack, his wife, Megan, their daughter Elizabeth, and their grandchildren Emelia and Claire.
